Eternity Ring Advice
Do you know what an eternity ring represents?
We often get asked what an eternity ring is when we mention them in wedding and engagement ring consultations.
Eternity rings were traditionally gifted on the first wedding anniversary or the birth of a child, whichever came first. Now, they can be gifted to mark any important milestone in a couple’s life.
If you’re considering adding an eternity ring to your collection, it’s helpful to keep this in mind when designing other significant pieces like your engagement or wedding rings. The design of each will influence how they look and fit together, especially if you plan to wear them side by side.
For instance, you may need a shaped eternity band to complement an engagement ring with a low setting or unusual design.
We also advise wearing the same metals together, so if your engagement ring is platinum, your wedding and eternity would ideally also be platinum.
However, when it comes to the design of an eternity ring… everyone is different. We have made rings that look part of a matching set and blend in really nicely but we have also made eternity rings for people who want something completely unique to them that stands out on its own. There is no right or wrong!
Don’t feel like you have to stick with the traditional diamond set eternity band either. We can incorporate birthstones or any gemstones you prefer, allowing you to add a meaningful colour or celebrate a special anniversary with a unique stone. Let us help you create an eternity ring that’s truly personal and unique.
However, if diamonds are what you want…
We are here to guide you on diamond quality, including the 4Cs (carat, color, clarity and cut).
There are also many different ways to set the stones. Flush, rubover and channel set are all very contemporary, whereas grain, pave and claw set have more of a vintage look and feel to them.
If you’re still undecided or feeling overwhelmed by the choices, we’re here to help. You can reach out with any questions, or book a “30 minute chat” with one of our designers to discuss your ideas. If you’re ready to take the next step and book a design appointment, here are a few things to consider first:
-
We can work to any budget and we want you to have a piece you love, but we may suggest some alternatives that suit better, but don’t worry, we never compromise on quality.
-
This may effect what stones we suggest or even how they are set.
-
Ideally, we would want to match the metals if you’re going to be wearing this ring against any others and this may also impact the design and settings.
-
We can get a selection of stones to pick from and we can also have something special engraved too!
