Petra Jewellery's Ruby Event 2024

We’ve loved sharing our knowledge and love of beautiful gemstones with you over the last 45 years. One of our favourite ways to celebrate them is with our VIP Gemstone Events.

We recently hosted our 2024 Ruby Event on the 10th of July.

RUBIES ARE THE BIRTHSTONE FOR JULY AND GIFTED FOR A 40TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY

We brought in a beautiful one-of-a-kind selection of rubies from our fantastic gemstone supplier, Keith, ahead of our event to show to our guests.

We had a mix of shapes, colours and shades as well as sizes. We are very lucky to have such a broad selection of almost any gemstone available to us which we can show to you in design appointments and events.

Our manager Jo had written a presentation all about the properties of rubies and why they work so well in jewellery. Rubies are relatively hard wearing stones, beaten only by diamonds on the mosh hardness scale. They come in a beautiful range of colours from beautiful pinks to striking reds.

Our guests got to learn how to use a pair of tweezers and a jewellers loupe to inspect the stones properly to understand the importance of seeing a gemstone in person when buying jewellery.

They could see the facets and inclusions under the magnification. We are all about education when it comes to buying jewellery so we encourage you to see things under a loupe and ask questions about what you see!

We had a little “Antiques Roadshow” fun and each took a guess at what we thought the most valuable stone was. After the presentation and getting a proper look at the stones, most were very close and a couple were even spot on!

Everyone had a loupe to take home as well as some extra goodies including an invitation to their very own Afternoon Tea Design Experience or Private Gemstone Viewing, both of which you can learn about below.

Our wonderful VIPs can tell you what they thought of the evening too…

For the month of August, we will have a special collection of beautiful peridot for you to come and have a look at in your very own Private Viewing Experience. It’s a fun way to get some one-on-one guidance in having a bespoke piece of jewellery made and learn all about peridot!
