Choosing Your Perfect Gemstone: Peridot
Fresh, vibrant and full of character, peridot is a gemstone unlike any other.
With its distinctive lime-green glow, peridot has been admired for thousands of years and is believed to have been treasured by the Ancient Egyptians, who called it the "Gem of the Sun". Whether you're celebrating an August birthday, marking a 16th wedding anniversary, or simply love its uplifting colour, peridot makes a beautiful and meaningful choice.

WHY WE LOVE PERIDOT
Peridot has long been associated with happiness, prosperity and new beginnings. Its vibrant green colour has made it a symbol of growth, positivity and renewal for centuries.
Unlike many coloured gemstones, peridot only occurs in shades of green. The exact tone depends on the amount of iron within the stone, ranging from a light yellow-green to a rich olive green. The finest peridots display a bright, lively green with exceptional clarity and sparkle.
When selecting a peridot, we look for beautiful colour, excellent clarity and a well-proportioned cut that allows the gemstone to shine.
IS PERIDOT RIGHT FOR EVERYDAY WEAR?
Peridot is a wonderful choice for pendants, earrings and dress rings, but it does require a little more care than harder gemstones such as sapphire or ruby.
With a hardness of 6.5–7 on the Mohs scale, it can be scratched or chipped if knocked against harder materials. For this reason, we generally recommend removing peridot rings during gardening, DIY, sport or other high-impact activities.
With the right care, however, peridot can be enjoyed for generations.
CARING FOR YOUR PERIDOT
Peridot is best cleaned using warm water, a mild soap and a soft brush.
Avoid harsh chemicals, steam cleaning and ultrasonic cleaners, as these may damage the gemstone. We also recommend storing your peridot jewellery separately from harder gemstones, such as diamonds, sapphires and rubies, to help prevent scratches.
Regular professional cleaning and inspections will help keep your jewellery looking its best and ensure the setting remains secure.
