3 Days Of Creativity With Our QMC Work Experience Students
We were delighted to welcome three talented QMC Art students into our team for a three-day immersive work experience. With the chance to explore jewellery design, digital marketing, and meaningful collaboration with local charity The Pink Place, each of them brought their own creativity and artistic energy to the studio.
The 3 day programme:
Day one: The students were introduced to our Pink Place Charity Pre-loved project, photographing pieces and starting to create content for marketing purposes.
Day two: The students went into the workshop to design and create their own wax carvings!
Day three: The students made reels of their week, added to our website and created this news page you’re currently reading!
Here’s what Ruby, Natasza and Maisie had to say about their experience in their own words:
Ruby
“I have had a fantastic time at Petra Jewellery these past three days .
I enjoyed taking and editing pictures on the first day of The Pink Place jewellery and expanding my editing skills as well as learning the way that they photograph their products at Petra Jewellery. Carving jewellery with wax was very fun and challenging.
On day two I carved a heart out of wax with details engraved into it, and this was a very enjoyable task. At the end of day two we made reels about the day and filmed transitions of the carved jewellery.
On day three I learnt how to add products to the website and how to record voiceovers on reels which is a great way to explain what is being done in the video and this was an enjoyable task.
Everyone at Petra is so friendly and welcoming and they have taught me great skills that I will use in the future. I have become more confident in myself here and have loved the work place experience and will definitely want to do something like this in the future!"
Maisie
"My time at Petra Jewellery has been an incredible experience. I’ve gained a real insight into the craftsmanship, creativity and dedication that goes into every piece, while learning new skills and seeing the jewellery making process up close. It’s given me a greater appreciation for the industry and has been inspiring to learn from such a talented team”"
Natasza
"I spent three very exciting days sat Petra’s Jewellery in July (2026). The team was very sweet and provided a better experience than I could have expected.
We spent the first day looking at the ‘pink place’ scheme. The aim is to sell or repurpose pre-loved jewellery instead of sending it to landfill. The fact that old jewellery can hold potential and sentimental value is beautiful. We spent a while sorting and photographing the pieces that have potential to be re-homed. We also brainstormed ideas for pieces that may not be as pleasing due to style, age, or other factors and how we could repurpose them into something more appealing.
The next day, we received and opportunity to carve our own peices out of wax. This was an experimental projects for a new workshop. The process was very relaxing and enjoyable. I loved learning a new skill and talking to the staff about their experience working at Petra’s Jewellery or in the industry as a whole.
On our last day, we looked at the online presence of Petra’s jewellery and we attempted making content of our own. The process and the work put into it shows how big of an aspect social media actually is when it comes to business promotion. Overall, the experience was very eye opening as to how a small business works and how many aspects come into building the whole picture. "
On the final day Natasza’s creativity came out in full force with her illustration of the three girls!
A very thoughtful touch which made the whole Petra Team smile, was Natasza’s lovely note and drawing of the team which is now displayed pride of place in our office!
