An Evening of Rubies
A sparkling evening celebrating one of the world’s most captivating gemstones
Last night, we welcomed a wonderful group of ruby enthusiasts to Petra Jewellery for an evening dedicated to one of the most fascinating gemstones in the world.
Our ruby event was filled with everything we love about sharing the sparkle - delicious nibbles, plenty of laughter, a few glasses of bubbles and, of course, lots of beautiful rubies!
At the heart of the evening was an exclusive showcase of 16 hand-picked ruby gemstones, each selected for its own unique beauty and character. From rich, vibrant colour to the fascinating stories behind what makes a ruby truly special, our guests had the opportunity to get up close and explore these incredible natural treasures.
Our expert designer Abi shared her extensive knowledge throughout the evening, helping guests discover more about what makes rubies so desirable, how to appreciate their individual qualities and the many things to consider when choosing one.

It was wonderful to see so many ruby enthusiasts come together, sharing their own passion and curiosity while learning more about these extraordinary gemstones.
There was a relaxed and friendly atmosphere throughout the evening, with plenty of questions, conversations and, naturally, lots of admiration for the stones on display.
But what made the evening particularly interesting was how quickly conversations moved beyond gemstones themselves.
People started talking about jewellery they had inherited but never worn.
Ideas they had saved for years but never quite known how to bring to life.
We of course played the classic game of guessing the prices of the stones too with the most expensive being…
The most expensive Ruby was this octagonal cut 1.3ct for £6,850!
Amongst the 16 hand selected rubies, perhaps the most unusual stone, was the Star Cabochon Ruby. We’ve coincidentally just made a star ruby ring which you can read the story of its journey here:
Events like this are such a special part of what we do at Petra Jewellery.
