Jo's diamond wishbone ring
Jo and Mark came in to see Rosie just before Christmas. Jo had a 22 carat yellow gold band that she hoped to melt down and create something really beautiful…
The ring was a really nice weight so we knew we had a lot to work with.
Jo liked the idea of creating a wishbone shaped ring and incorporating a new diamond.
We had a wishbone shaped sample ring that we were able to place a diamond over to help Jo picture her new ring…
We drew out the design and decided on a smooth rubover setting to hold the diamond. We also discussed the durability of 22ct yellow gold as although it is hard wearing, it is soft. Because of this, we made the setting in a slightly harder 18ct yellow gold.
When it came to choosing the stone, Jo trusted Rosie to pick out something remarkable. She knew what size she wanted and that it needed to really sparkle.
After ordering a selection of half carat round diamonds, Rosie picked her favourite and sent this video to Jo. She was thrilled and very excited to see her new ring…
The ring was made by our incredible in-house goldsmith, Behzad. The ring looks fairly straight forward, but there is a lot of shaping and filing involved to get the perfect clean lines of the wishbone. He was able to work some magic and we were able to give the ring to Jo before Christmas!
it’s such a beautifully understated design that really makes the diamond and the gorgeous colour of 22 carat gold stand out and sparkle.
The ring is stunning, we were definitely sad to see it go but very pleased that Jo loved it!
