Sapphire’s are stones of intelligence, truth and joy. They were said to be worn by the Ancient Greeks to attain wisdom. In Ancient Persia, it was also sometimes used in medicine.

Sapphires are the birthstone for September and are gifted for 45th wedding anniversaries. Typically they are a deep blue, although they naturally come in range of colours. The name originated from Greek “sappheiros” referring to Lapis Lazuli.
