A green tsavorite garnet, prized for its vibrant emerald-like colour, is one of the rarest gemstones in the garnet family. Almost all tsavorites are found on the border dividing Kenya and Tanzania and are formed deep within the Earth’s crust under high pressure and temperature conditions, where the presence of Vanadium and Chromium in the surrounding rock gives them their distinctive colouring.
