Lucy came to see us after her Nan had very sadly passed away.
She had a large amount of inherited jewellery and had her Nan’s ashes. We decided on the perfect every day wear design for Lucy, and then invited her in to our workshop to add the ashes to the melt herself.
Although we know that you trust us - it is extra special to be able to be able to be part of the melting process and be able to add your loved ones ashes to the ring yourself. This way you know exactly how much of the ashes have been added, and at exactly what point in the process, so you know for sure that your loved one is with you forever.
The below video shows Behzad melting Lucy’s gold, whilst Lucy carefully adds her Nan’s ashes.
This can be a really emotional process but rest assured that our team are here for you to support you through the whole process.
At the end of the session, Lucy’s gold and ashes had been melted together into the bar we would use to build her beautiful new ring.
Once Lucy had left, Behzad got to work building the beautiful ring.
It was hand made, hallmarked, set and finished by our expert team.
The finished piece is stunning.
The hammered finish and rubover set diamonds make this contemporary design into a modern bespoke ring, which Lucy can wear every day to keep her Nan close to her.
“My experience at Petra’s was very special. I reached out to them to see if they could create a ring which contained my Nans ashes. We ended up melting down alot of gold which was of no use to us, and they came up with a completely unique design which was exactly what I had in my head all along. Such a special, unique way of doing it with great customer service from start to finish also gave me something to look forward to in lockdown. Going in to see the goldsmith to melt down my gold and sprinkle in Nans ashes was a highlight 💛”
