Christine’s Amber Pendant
Christine had a much-loved amber pendant that she wore often. Over time, it had started to look a little tarnished, so she decided to give it a clean using silver dip.
While the silver polished up beautifully, unfortunately silver dip can damage amber, which is a natural tree resin. In this case, the amber had been left feeling rough to the touch and had actually been worn down by the cleaning solution.
Christine was concerned that the damage might be permanent and wasn't sure whether anything could be done to restore it.
Thankfully, through our trusted connections in Hatton Garden, we knew just the person to help.
We sent the pendant to our expert gem polisher, who carefully worked on the amber to restore its surface and bring back its lovely finish. After the polishing process, Christine’s pendant was looking as good as new!
It was lovely to be able to help bring such a well-loved piece back to life, ready to be worn and enjoyed for many more years.
