Emma
Emma came to see us to redesign a ring that her late father had bought her.
She absolutely loved the ring, but it just wasn’t to her taste and she wanted something slightly simpler.
She also had some of her dads hair, that she wanted incorporated into the ring.
We designed a simple band that matched 2 rings she already wears so that it could sit alongside them.
She then came and joined our goldsmith Behzad in the workshop. She watched as he melted the hair in with the metal to make the ring.
We were then ready to send the ring off to the setter. As the amethysts from the original ring didn’t match any of her existing jewellery, we decided to set them into the inside of the ring. Our master setter then put the remainder of the hair behind the stones before he set them in, so that Emma would know it was there.
Once the hair was fully set behind the stones, we got to work adding the finishing touches, including the modern hammered finish.
The finished piece is a beautiful remodel of the original ring.
“This commission was such an emotional journey. It was such a pleasure to work with Emma to make this beautiful ring.”
