Heidi’s pendant - hair in resin
We wanted to showcase a hair in resin memorial design that was simple, secure and adaptable.
We think this one ticks all those boxes, here’s why…
The dimensions and overal proporions of this ‘wave’ pendant design can be adapted to make it finer for a more feminine look and also chunkier for a more masculine look, which makes it something that would work really well for a lot of guys that struggle to find jewellery designs they would like to wear.
We place the hair within a groove that our goldsmith hand carves out of the metal and secure it with special jeweller’s resin.
This ensures the hair is well protected from everyday wear and tear; it won’t easily catch on things and should be pretty resilient to most substances. We wanted a design that you can wear and get on with life without being nervous of it getting damaged too easily. This is of course super important when it’s made out of something very precious to you.
We used some of my daughter’s hair as she’s got lots of it and it’s gorgeous! She however refused to let me cut any so I has to teeze some out of her hairbrush and we then straightend it our in the workshop. It actually worked surprisingly well, so if you do want to create something and don’t have a ‘cut of hair’ please don’t worry, we can make it work!
What you hang a pendant on can make a big difference to the overall look. This design would look great on an Italian leather necklet which we can make for you in our workshop, they look smart and can be significantly cheaper than a gold chain. We’ve got some good quality leather in different colours and thickness for you to select from.
You might also have your own gold or silver chain we can upcycle, we’ll check the links are in good condition and can always update any worn claps so you can be rest assured it’s as secure as possible.
We love inviting you to be part of the whole journey, that’s very much the design process, but also we can invite you in for a private Workshop Experience. This means you feel very much part of the creation of your special piece, we can take pictures and video for you to remember it by too.
