Helen's engagement ring
Helen came to see Jo, one of our designers as she wanted to remodel her engagement ring.
She had a two-toned wedding ring that she wanted her new engagement ring to match.
We looked at what Helen already had and from that we knew it needed to be low set so it wouldn’t catch and would sit well together. So her wedding ring and engagement rings were a perfect pair.
Jo came up with a design that would flush set her diamond into the band set into a section of white gold, which would be at an angle that matched her wedding ring.
The final design for the setting of the diamond was to imitate a tension style setting. This is where the pressure of the metal either side of the setting holds the stone in the ring, however, this style can be risky for the security of the stone.
If the tension is lost it can result in the stone coming out, so for the final design Helen chose to do a partial rubover setting to showcase her diamond and give it the security it needed for everyday wear.
The goldsmith, Behzad used Helen’s gold and her diamond and added some white gold to make the ring.
Once the ring was made and hallmarked it was time for Helen to collect her new ring.
Helen was so pleased with her new ring and how it worked with her existing wedding ring. They are the perfect match.
