Karen

During a really tough year, the one light in Karen’s life was her beautiful cat. Sadly, she then lost her cat suddenly which left her distraught.

At the pet cemetery, she was offered a small portion of her cats fur as part of the service that they offer. She was lost as to what she could possibly do with the fur.

After seeing one of our stories about memorial jewellery, Karen decided to get in touch to see if there was anything we could do to help.

She came in to see our Manager Natalie, who talked her through some different options.

Karen decided that she wanted a very simple ring made from some of her old gold that she could wear every day, and we decided to melt the gold with the fur to incorporate it into the ring.

Karen was over the moon, and joined us the following week to watch the gold and fur being melted together by our master goldsmith Behzad.

Karen and Behzad spent a long time bonding over their love for animals. Karen was over the moon to learn how much Behzad cares about all of the jewellery he makes and gets involved with the stories behind them. It was such a pleasure to have her come in and be part of this stage of the process.

Once Karen had left, Behzad got to work making the ring and adding the hammered finish which Karen had chosen to make the ring suit her style perfectly.

She was delighted with the finished piece and the whole experience; we were honoured that she chose us to design and make this special ring for her.

I really enjoyed the whole process. Thank you so much Natalie, Behzad and the whole Petra Team.
