Rosie's Favourites of 2023

It’s been such a busy year for us and I have had the opportunity to meet some gorgeous people and design some incredible pieces. There hasn’t been a single piece that I didn’t love and i’m so proud to see all of the designs and sketches come to life! i’ve picked out just a few that have stuck with me.

Ash

Ash recently came to see me to design an engagement ring for his partner Sinead. He used some sentimental family gold to create the ring and then he picked from a beautiful selection of oval diamonds to choose the perfect one for Sinead. He loved the journey and it was a pleasure designing this ring. He popped the question in New York and we are all so pleased to be part of this wonderful story!

Ruth

Ruth had some absolutely stunning diamond rings that were her mother’s. They were beautiful but not very contemporary or very “Ruth”. We chat about what we could make and eventually decided to use three of the larger diamonds to create a trilogy and putting the ovals on their side to make it a bit more interesting. Then the second ring which was a classic daisy cluster, we decided to create an eternity style ring to sit with the trilogy. The gold was also melted down from the original rings to create the new ones. The diamonds are so beautiful and the rings are gorgeous on Ruth! Thank you to Ruth for letting me help create these stunners!

Geoff and Jennifer

This pendant was made for a 50th anniversary and every part of it was deliberately designed to symbolise the occasion. The traditional gift for a 50th anniversary is gold so we made this spinning pendant in white and yellow gold and set it with 50 diamonds exactly. The small green stones are Geoff and Jennifer’s birthstones, emerald and alexandrite and both their initials are engraved on the small heart. This was such a complex and fun piece to design and make, we loved seeing it all come together.

Carrie and Anna

Carrie and I had a zoom call in November last year to discuss an engagement ring for Anna. She knew that she wanted something a little different, with black gemstones as well as rubies. I drew out some designs and filmed some stones to send over to Carrie eventually we ended up with this eye-catching ruby and onyx slightly tapered band. I always enjoy designing engagement rings because of the excitement and the romance of it all. Congratulations to Anna and Carrie!

Gina

Gina has been a customer at Petra jewellery for a little while and we have made some gorgeous pieces for her before. One thing I love about Gina is that she doesn’t do subtle. She had some rubies and sapphires left over from a previous piece of jewellery that she had made and wanted to create a piece that would complement that ring. We came up with a graduating grain set band with sapphires, rubies and diamonds. She also spotted a sample ring we had that featured a cross-hatching engraving so we incorporated that too!
