Sue
During the first lock down Sue took part in our jewellery design competition and was crowned overall winner for her category. Sue had designed a beautiful shaped emerald ring that we used as inspiration for her wedding ring.
A few months after the design competition Sue and her fiancé came in to see Beth to discuss designing a shaped wedding ring that would complement her engagement ring. From Sue’s competition entry Beth knew that Sue was looking for a wider, more contemporary styled wedding ring that would sit perfectly up against her shaped engagement ring.
Sue mentioned to Beth that she loved the idea of having a different coloured wedding ring to her engagement ring. Sue’s engagement ring is made of 18ct white gold and we decided to make a 18ct yellow gold wedding ring. It was explained to Sue that if we were to make a ring in a different metal we would need to match the carat to prevent one wearing down quicker than the other.
Once the design was drawn up Beth sent the design along with Sue’s engagement ring over to our CAD team for them to scan Sue’s wedding ring to create a 3D wax model for sue to view before we went ahead and made her wedding ring.
Once Sue saw the 3D wax she fell in love with design. The wax was then given to our master goldsmith Behzad for him to start making.
Behzad started off by melting down Sue’s gold to form a solid gold bar, which was then rolled to the desired thickness and width needed to make Sue’s wedding ring.
Once Behzad had created the band he just out the wave shape in the ring to allow for the two rings to sit perfectly flush up against each other.
It is safe to say the finished ring is simply stunning. Sue was over the moon with her new wedding ring and is all ready now to set a date for her big day.
