Amy's engagement ring
Our newest designer, Sarah, has been steadily growing her jewellery knowledge and technical skills.
When Amy came to her to design an engagement ring using her Nan’s diamond, a stone set in a ring worn for 65 years, it marked Sarah’s first engagement ring commission.
It was deeply important to Sarah that the new design honoured the diamond’s history while creating a piece Amy, who is a keen athlete, can wear comfortably and cherish for a lifetime.
Amy, told Sarah that she’s always using her hands and wanted her engagement ring to feel strong and durable. She also envisioned something understated yet sophisticated.
Sarah chose a rub-over set ring in platinum, a strong and enduring design that beautifully showcased her Nan’s treasured diamond and felt perfectly Amy.
Once Amy had agreed on a design that she loved, it was over to our master goldsmith, Behzad to craft the ring. He carefully unset the stone from Amy’s Nan’s ring and lovingly crafted a brand new platinum rub-over mount for the very special diamond to sit in.
The ring was then sent to the Assay office in London to be hallmarked and returned to Behzad for a final clean and polish. After a final check over by Sarah, Amy’s engagement ring was ready to collect.
Amy was thrilled with the final result. Reimagining her Nan’s cherished stone into a modern engagement ring has given Amy a piece that beautifully bridges generations, ready to be worn and loved throughout her marriage and beyond.
“I had the absolute pleasure of working with Sarah to create my engagement ring using my nan’s diamond. She took the time to explore different designs and options, making sure the stone was showcased perfectly. I’m over the moon with the final result and will definitely be returning to design my wedding band. Thank you so much, Sarah.”
