Marian's engagement ring restoration
At Petra Jewellery, we don’t just create bespoke pieces from scratch, we also take great pride in restoring treasured jewellery, allowing it to be worn, loved and enjoyed for many years to come.
When Marian and Martin visited our Design Suite to see Sarah, they were understandably upset. Marian’s much-loved engagement ring had become caught in her stairlift, causing serious damage to the shank and gallery. Thankfully, the gemstones themselves were unharmed, but the ring was in need of expert care.
Sarah immediately understood how much the ring meant to them and worked with our in-house goldsmith, Behzad, to find the best possible solution. While the restoration would be complex, Behzad was confident the ring could be saved and carefully rebuilt to our quality standards.
The process involved separating the head from the shank and melting down the original gold, combining it with new metal to create a stronger, more durable foundation, all while preserving the character of the original piece. Marian and Martin entrusted their ring to the Petra team, knowing it was in safe hands.
After many hours of meticulous craftsmanship, the ring was restored to its former brilliance. When Marian returned to collect it, she was overcome with emotion. Seeing her engagement ring beautifully re-crafted, ready to be worn once again was a moment none of us will forget.
For Sarah, it was a reminder of why we do what we do: protecting the stories behind our customers’ jewellery and helping them continue for generations to come.
“We were devastated when our engagement ring fell into the stairlift mechanism we both thought it was beyond repair! We had been told about Petra Jewellery, so on the off chance we visited and spoke with Sarah who showed the ring to Bezhad their goldsmith who let us know that he could rebuild it!
We left the engagement ring with them and awaited their call , some weeks later a call came that we could collect the ring! My wife was presented with a black box and on opening it she was filled with joy, overwhelm and excitement. We were so happy to have it back looking like new again .
