A complete wedding, engagement & eternity ring restoration
At Petra Jewellery, we often say jewellery isn’t just something you wear, it’s something you live in. It holds your memories, your milestone; your story.
For Nicky, that story took an unexpected turn.
After a fall, Nicky found herself in A&E having her engagement, wedding and eternity rings cut off. What should have been symbols of love and continuity were suddenly damaged, misshapen, and unwearable.
When she came to see us, she wasn’t looking for something new.
She just wanted her rings back - the ones she loved, the ones that held meaning and memories.
Nicky sat down with our designer Jo, who gently talked her through what was possible.
This is always where we begin, not with the jewellery, but with the person behind it.
Jo explained that while the damage was significant, it was possible to restore each ring -carefully, thoughtfully, and in a way that would preserve their original character.
When we assessed the rings, there was a mix of structural and cosmetic damage.
The wedding ring had been cut through and heavily distorted
The eternity ring, set with stones, was cut and scratched, requiring careful handling due to the risks involved in repairing stone set pieces.
The engagement ring, a three-stone design, needed more extensive work to restore its strength and overall finish.
With repairs like this, it’s about combining care with technical expertise. Our goldsmith, Behzad, approached each ring with the respect it deserved.
The wedding ring was carefully rejoined and reshaped, with a seamless finish that made the repair invisible
Working on the stone-set eternity ring required a delicate approach, but the result was a seamless repair with beautifully refreshed stones.
For the engagement ring, a more involved restoration was needed.
We carefully crafted a new shank using Nicky’s own gold to enhance both strength and longevity, while carrying out detailed work on the head of the ring to ensure each stone was secure and beautifully presented.
Once the structural work was complete, each ring was polished and finished.
Clean. Bright. Beautifully restored.
A set, once again.
When Nicky returned to collect her rings, the difference was clear.
What had arrived damaged and unwearable was now back where it belonged - on her hand, as part of her everyday life.
“It is always lovely to be part of restoring customers jewellery, when it has so much meaning and seeing the finish pieces. I am sure the story behind how she had her fall will be remembered for many years.”
