Andre
Andre is one of our regular customers, who has had a variety of exceptional bespoke pieces made with us.
This particular piece was created to symbolise a number of things very close to his heart.
The shape of the pendant is of his home nation of Colombia. The reverse depicts the country’s flag. His single birth stone is set in to the map at the place where he was born, and there are other hidden messages throughout that are personal to him.
Our goldsmith Behzad worked directly with Andre devise the best method to build the shape of the design. It was very important to Andre that the detailing of the Colombian mountains was prominent.
Once he had hand cut the shape, Behzad used a very intricate technique called reticulation to build up the detailing by hand. He then set the birth stone using a secure flush setting style.
The pendant was then sent off to our laser engraver to add the detailing of the flag.
This process took several weeks to perfect. Our designer Natalie and Andre went back and forth with our engraver to get the design absolutely perfect. We tried many different sizes, fonts and layouts until we found the perfect one.
The engraving style is called a ‘reverse seal engraving’, similar to that that you would find on a traditional signet ring. It gives the engraving a 3D finish, and can be scaled down very small even with these intricate details.
The pendant was finished with a leather rope style chain.
