Diane's remodelled daisy cluster ring
Diane had her mother’s wedding ring and her mother in law’s engagement ring that she thought were beautiful but just didn’t wear them as they were.
The engagement ring was a beautiful daisy style cluster ring in a very traditional yellow gold and platinum setting…whereas the band was a nice weighty yellow gold ring.
Diane wanted to combine the two rings into a slightly more practical, but still beautiful, version of the ring.
We drew out some sketches and eventually decided that we would set the diamonds into a similar daisy formation but with a more robust yellow gold rubover setting and set this into the band.
The gold and diamonds were given to our goldsmith, Behzad, so that he could work his magic and bring the design to life.
As the original band was 22ct and belonged to Diane’s mum, we had the idea of preserving the original hallmark too to keep a small piece of the ring’s history intact.
The first thing Behzad needed to do was carefully unset and clean the diamonds before measuring them to handcraft the settings.
The settings were made using the original shank of the cluster ring that belonged to Diane’s mother in law.
