Heather's purple spinel ring

Heather had been in to enjoy our VIP Diamond Event back in February and decided to RSVP again to our VIP Purple Event for an apportunity to spend time looking at some carefully selected purple gemstones.

During the event Abi showcased a beautiful selection of purple stones, including some more unusual gems such as iolite, tourmalines and a very special trillion cut spinel that caught Heather’s eye.

We get the gemstones in especially for the event, but since Heather was keen to view her favourite gemstone from the event again. Abi invited her in for a Private Gemstone Viewing to have the opportunity to have another look at the stone and explore options of how it could be set.

Heather had a magazine clipping she had kept for years in her purse, showing a triangular cut solitaire ring in a rubover setting. So after a chat with Abi decided this was the route she wanted to go down.

The final design was for a robust platinum ring with the purple spinel set in a rubover setting.

Once the design was done, it was time for our goldsmith Behzad to get to work creating it.

Once Behzad had created the ring mount, before setting the stone we invited Heather to pop in and test the sizing.

She had learnt after her Gemstone Viewing with Abi that spinel actually represented her 22nd wedding anniversary which was a rather serendipitous thing!

Once the ring had been set, it was time to get Heather in to collect.

And it was safe to say she loved it!
