Victoria's coin pendant
Victoria had an incredible roman coin which she wanted to have set in a pendant.
Victoria didn’t want the organic shape to be taken away from the coin so she discussed with Abi some different options on how the coin could be set without altering the coin’s form.
Our fantastic goldsmith Behzad then suggested the coin be set in the traditional coin bezel. This is where gold (or the metal of choice) is wrapped around the perimeter of the coin and secured using claws either side of the coin.
Victoria loved the idea so Abi drew up a sketch to give an idea of how the final piece would look, Victoria was happy for Behzad to take some creative license with this piece in order for it to look perfect.
So Behzad set to work using some of Victoria’s unworn 9ct yellow gold and her coin.
He started by melting the gold down and creating a length of thick wire for the bezel which was then shaped around the coin.
It was then time to set the coin into the mount and give it a good polish.
and it looked amazing!
So it was time to get Victoria in to see her new pendant…
Victoria was delighted! It was such a pleasure to create such a unique piece so this one of a kind piece of history can be worn everyday!
