A Paris Proposal for Josh and Charlie
The Proposal Happened in Paris...
...but the story started months earlier at our cottage in Basingstoke.
When Josh first came to see Petra designer Jo, he already knew he wanted to propose. What he didn't have yet was the ring.
Rather than choosing something off the shelf, Josh wanted to create a ring that felt more personal. Something designed specifically for Charlie and the future they were planning together.
Like all our bespoke commissions, the journey started with a conversation.
Over coffee and sketches, Josh and Jo explored different ideas, discussing styles, details and the little things that would make the ring feel truly special. Once the design was finalised, Josh selected the diamond that would sit at its centre, and the project began to take shape.
But Josh wanted to be part of the process in more ways than one.
So, he joined us in the workshop.
Working alongside our goldsmith, Behzad, he helped melt the precious metal that would eventually become the engagement ring itself. It's not something many people get to experience, but it made the ring's story even more personal and connected Josh to the piece from the very beginning.
From that point on, every stage of the process brought the proposal one step closer.
Behzad then handcrafted the ring using the gold Josh had helped melt. Once complete, the diamond was carefully set by our expert setter, Gavin, before the ring received its final polish and was ready to collect.
When Josh collected it, he wasn't just taking home an engagement ring. He was taking home months of planning, excitement and anticipation, all wrapped up in one very special piece.
Soon afterwards, the ring travelled with him to Paris.
Charlie was delighted with her engagement ring and later shared a beautiful video capturing their special moment in front of the Eiffel Tower.
Watching the proposal unfold was a wonderful reminder of why we love what we do.
Yes, the ring was beautiful.
But what stayed with us was the moment itself.
The nerves before he asked the question.
The excitement.
The joy.
The beginning of a brand-new chapter together.
We have the privilege of creating jewellery for some of life's biggest moments—engagements, anniversaries, birthdays, new beginnings and treasured memories.
For Josh and Charlie, that moment happened in Paris.
We're simply delighted we could play a small part in their story.
