Katie came to see us for a repair on her engagement ring. One of the stones had fallen out of her illusion set diamond ring.
Unfortunately, after contacting several of our expert setters for their advise, we found that this particular American style of setting involves cutting each diamond to slot it into the other diamonds, and therefore the whole top would need to be unset and remade in order to repair this beautiful ring.
It is a very risky style of setting which can often result in lost diamonds, and as it is so important to us that we make rings that will last, we decided to explore some other options.
After a discussion with Katie, we came to the conclusion that remodelling the ring and making some tweaks to the design would be the most sensible option.
It was important to Katie that the stones from her original ring were in the new design, but there were a few alterations she wanted to make to make the diamonds safer and the ring more elegant and modern.
During the design process, Katie expressed her desire for the centre stone to be a single stone, rather than a selection of smaller stones.
We ordered in a variety of white, princess cut stones for Katie to view, and she eventually settled on a gorgeous white topaz.
Then we got to work remodelling Katie’s ring.
We had the ring cast and hand set by our expert setter, and the finished ring looked absolutely beautiful.
Below is a before and after shot of the ring, beautifully displaying how with a few slight changes, you can keep the integrity of your loved jewellery, whilst improving the design and therefore the safety of your stones.
Katie was over the moon with the finished ring, and most importantly can now feel confident wearing it day to day knowing that her diamonds are safe and secure.
