Emily and Dean’s wedding rings

When Emily and Dean came to Petra Jewellery to design their wedding rings, they knew they wanted something truly personal, rings that would tell their story and carry meaning for years to come.

Emily had inherited some gold from her mum and was keen to incorporate it into their rings, making them even more special. To begin the design journey, Abi invited the couple to one of our Afternoon Tea Design Experiences. It was the perfect way to start the conversation, sitting down together with tea and freshly baked scones while exploring ideas.

Emily brought along her jewellery box so Abi could look through the pieces she had inherited. They discussed styles, inspirations and how the inherited gold could be incorporated into the final designs.

Emily’s engagement ring was already beautifully distinctive. It featured a unique bypass design, which meant her wedding ring would need to be carefully shaped to fit alongside it. Rather than choosing a simple band, Emily wanted something equally special that would complement the ring perfectly.

Dean, meanwhile, had a completely different vision. He loved the idea of a bold, chunky band with the iconic New York skyline incorporated into the design, a striking and meaningful detail.

Abi sketched two bespoke designs: a fitted, leaf-inspired wedding ring for Emily, set with vibrant tsavorite garnets and black diamonds, and a heavy bevelled band for Dean featuring the detailed New York skyline wrapping around the ring.

Because both designs were quite intricate, Abi suggested creating CAD designs through our workshop so every detail could be perfectly captured. This would also ensure Emily’s ring fitted beautifully against her engagement ring while allowing the skyline detail on Dean’s band to be crisp and precise.

The couple loved the designs, but they decided to add one final personal touch. Alongside the gold Emily had inherited, Dean contributed a 9ct white gold ring from his own family. This meant that both rings would contain gold from both families, a lovely and symbolic way to represent their marriage.

Once the designs were finalised, we took precise finger measurements and tested a wax print to ensure a perfect fit before sending everything to our workshop to be made.

The rings were cast, the gemstones were carefully set, and each piece was polished to perfection. When the finished rings returned to the studio, they were completely stunning, beautifully detailed and full of meaning.

Emily and Dean later shared some of their wonderful wedding photographs with us, and it was such a joy to see the rings being worn on their special day. It was a true pleasure for Abi and the Petra team to help create something so personal for them, pieces that will now be worn and treasured for a lifetime.

We wanted to say a HUGE thank you for everything you’ve done for us, from design to resize, to solder balls to engraving.. your attention to detail and customer service has been amazing and a truly fantastic experience.

If you asked me what my favourite wedding rings are, I’d have to say Emily and Dean’s. They were such a joy to design, full of personality, and truly unique to them as a couple. Emily and Dean themselves are just the loveliest people, and working with them throughout the design process was an absolute pleasure.
