Kate's aquamarine ring
Kate and her husband came in to see the Petra team to discuss having a ring designed. Kate had an idea in mind on what she wanted but couldn’t find the perfect design anywhere.
Kate worked with our designer, Beth, to come up with this beautiful ring. During the design consultation, Beth showed Kate different colours and shapes of aquamarines we had in-store and Kate fell in love with the idea of having a pear and emerald cut aquamarine.
Once the stone details were finalised, Beth got to work putting together a design that Kate instantly fell in love with.
With the design locked in, Beth went away and ordered in a selection of aquamarines in different shades and sizes for Kate to view.
With the handpicked stones chosen out, our master goldsmith, Behzad, got to work with bringing the design to life.
Behzad started by creating the rubover settings in which the aquamarines were to be set, these were then joined to the open ring shank to form the basic shell of the ring.
The ring was then sent to our setter for him to rubover set the aquamarines in. We decided to go for a rubover setting as this is the most secure style of setting and worked well with the contemporary feel of the ring design.
The finished ring exceeded all expectations and Kate was left truly speechless when she collected.
