Yvonne's opal ring
Yvonne came to us with some very special pieces she had inherited from her mother. She was deeply fond of the jewellery and the memories it carried, and wanted to create something new that still paid tribute to her mother’s original design.
Over a coffee with Abi, they talked through ideas and looked at some design options. Yvonne recalled that her mother had once worn a three stone ring, so Abi sketched a design that echoed this.
A modern bypass style ring featuring Yvonne’s opal and one of her diamonds, both set in smooth rubover settings. Once the design and quote were approved, it was time for our goldsmith Behzad to begin.
Behzad carefully unset Yvonne’s stones and melted her gold to form the new ring with three rubover collets. Before setting the stones, Yvonne came in to test the size and make sure it was comfortable. Once she was happy, the ring was sent to our expert setter Rob, who secured each stone with precision.
After a final clean and polish, Yvonne returned to collect her new ring, a beautiful modern piece that carries a timeless connection to her mother.
“After the loss of both of my parents I wanted a way to remember them, I had both of their wedding rings and asked Abi if she could design something in a way to replicate my mums engagement ring. We used both wedding rings and a stone from my mums earring to create a unique and beautiful piece that I collected this week. I couldn’t have asked for a kinder and more sympathetic process and outcome. Thank you.”
